Mrs. Edna Yates went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tues. June 30th. Had it not been for the unselfish labors of Mrs. Edna, along with other members of The Chadbourn Revitalization Committee The Chadbourn Arts Building as well as The Chadbourn Depot would not have reached restoration stage. Mrs. Edna had a dream of seeing the Arts Building being utilized in a manner that would benifit all the citizens of Chadbourn as well as Columbus and surrounding counties. On Sept. 30th, 2008 her vision became a reality. She worked relentlessly with The Grand Ole Gospel Band to organize "The Grand Ole Gospel". She attended each Tues. night program and could always be found in the lobby area welcoming our new guest and fellowshiping with those who attended regularly. The news of her stroke in early Jan. devastated The Grand Ole Gospel Family. Her presence has been sorely missed each Tues. night. Had it not been for Mrs. Edna there would not have been a "Grand Ole Gospel" in Chadbourn. Not only will her presence be missed by The Grand Ole Gospel, but by the entire Town of Chadbourn. Her handy work is ever present in many areas of our small town. She was indeed an inspiration to any one who desired to see our home town prosper. The family of Mrs. Edna covets your prayers, and we thank them for sharing this "Wonderful Lady" with us.
